How correctly to address Church of Ireland Clergy.

Bishops: On an envelope, or in a formal listing - The Right Rev'd The Bishop of Cork, Cloyne and Ross (very formal), or The Right Rev'd Paul Colton, Bishop of Cork, Cloyne and Ross, or The Right Rev'd Paul Colton or (informal) Bishop Paul Colton. In speech or beginning a letter - My Lord (archaic and extremely formal, rarely used) or (most usually) Bishop, or (a little less formal) Bishop Colton, or (more informal still) Bishop Paul.

Deans: (Deans are in charge of Cathedrals). On an envelope, or in a formal listing - The Very Rev'd The Dean of Ross (very formal), or The Very Rev'd Chris Peters, Dean of Ross, or The Very Rev'd Chris Peters . In speech or beginning a letter - Mr. Dean (very formal), or Dean, or Dean Chris (more informal).

Archdeacons: On an envelope, or in a formal listing - The Venerable (The Ven.) The Archdeacon of Cork, Cloyne and Ross (very formal) or, The Ven. Robin Bantry-White, Archdeacon of Cork, Cloyne and Ross, or The Ven. Robin Bantry-White. In speech or beginning a letter - Mr. Archdeacon (very formal) or Archdeacon, or (informal) Archdeacon Bantry-White.

Deacons and Priests: (This includes most incumbents). On an envelope, or in a formal listing - The Rev'd. W.P. Olhausen. In speech or beginning a letter, Mr. Olhausen, or (informal) William etc.. If it is your own Rector, then Rector may be used. Deacons and Priests are never addressed in speech (at least in Ireland) as Rev'd Olhausen, eg. "Good morning Rev'd Olhausen"

Canons: (Canons are connected in some way with a Cathedral but can hold other positions too) On an envelope, or in a formal listing - The Rev'd. Canon D. Williams. In speech or beginning a letter, Canon Williams.

Clergy who hold Doctorates are recognised as follows: Place the expression 'Dr' after The Rev'd. Eg. The Rev'd Dr. And in speech use the expression Dr. Walker instead of Mr.

In practice, offence is never caused if clergy are not addressed properly and christian names are widely used by parishioners.
