An Ecumenical Church
The Church of Ireland is an ecumenical church committed to the full visible unity of all God’s people. At every level of the church Christians are called to work and pray for the unity of Christian people. At official level the Church of Ireland is fully committed to ecumenical dialogue with our sister churches and is a full member of various Ecumenical Instruments at national, European, and international level.
As a province of the Anglican Communion, the Church is involved in many official and formal dialogues between the Anglican Communion and other world Communions. www.aco.org/ecumenical/index.cfm
At local level, members of the Church of Ireland are encouraged to foster creative relationships and opportunities to worship, study, pray and work together with Christians of all denominations.

The Conference of European Churches (CEC) which was formed in 1959 during the period of the “Cold War” is a fellowship of 126 Orthodox, Protestant, Anglican and Old Catholic Churches along with 43 associated organisations from all countries on the European continent. The Church of Ireland was one of the founding churches. |
