5-a-Side Soccer 2007

The 5-a-side soccer competition was held in the Ardfallen Centre, Douglas Road. There were about twelve teams from across the diocese and the buzz and excitement increased as the day went on. With the Carrigaline Crusaders scooping the prize as of last year, the question was, would they again take the lead, but alas they we narrowly beaten by the Carrigaline C. of I. Team (broadly speaking!) namely; Ross Bateman, Stuart Gray, Trevor Bateman, David Nicoll and Gary Moore and became this year’s winners.

As well as the focus being on soccer, there were also plenty of other activity going on concurrently, giant jenga & noughts and crosses, limbo and games consoles. Later in the afternoon we had pizza and we closed the day with Worship. The band was lead by Marg and Paul. Clive spoke to us about The Reality of God and facilitated a time of reflection as the young people moved from one area to another and partook in different tasks to represent different aspects of this Reality; that God can change lives, that God hears our prayers, that God forgive our sins, and that God loves us as his children. This gave people space to reflect using the visual stimulus. It was a really fun day.                                                                                                               C.S.
